![]() Hello! My name is Ms. Mosqueda-Jelsing, but my students know me as "Ms. Mo." I am an energetic, creative, organized person who loves teaching! This is my third year teaching at Kelly Elementary and will be my first year teaching 4th grade! (For the past 2 years I taught 5th grade.) I am looking forward to beginning this year and meeting all of my new students and families! I feel so lucky to be back at Kelly for another year of fun, excitement, hard work, and helping my students achieve their goals! Feel free to check this site often to keep up on what we are learning and the progress we are making as the school year continues! Remembering September 11th 2001 At this time of year it is difficult not to be reminded of the tragic events that took place 12 years ago on September 11th, 2001. While many adults remember the day vividly, our 5th graders, who were only babies or not even born at the time, are often confused. It is difficult to know how to explain these events to our children - we don't want to scare them, and sometimes even us adults aren't sure what to say. Luckily, Nickelodeon has put together a Nick News video entitled "What Happened? The Story of September 11th 2001" that is just for kids. This video focuses on the facts of what actually happened and answers many questions students might have. I encourage all families to take the time, watch this video with your children, and discuss the events that took place. I think students will find it is much less scary once they have learned the facts and have learned how our country has changed since 9/11 so that we are safer today. This video also reminds us that, while 9/11 was a tragic day for many, it was a day that proved how united our nation can be, how resilient the human spirit is, and how love will always prevail over hate.
