Teaching PhilosophyALL STUDENTS CAN LEARN! I believe that ALL students can learn. That being said, children do not all learn at the same pace. Each student is on his or her own path and all students are traveling down their path at different speeds. Sometimes we come to a road block and have to be patient. We must keep trying again and again, until finally, we will achieve success and move forward! It is important for children to learn that through hard work and perseverance, we can achieve any goal we set our minds to. It doesn't matter where each of us is on the path, as long as we are all moving forward and making progress towards our goals. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT! I am a firm believer in Positive Reinforcement. Rather than punish bad behavior, I make a point of rewarding good behavior. I am a very positive person and encourage my students to think positively as well. The mind is a powerful thing! Henry Ford said, "Wether you believe you can, or you can't, you're right." I have found this to be true in my own life and in my 10 years of coaching gymnastics as well. Through positive thinking and positive reinforcement I hope to create a happy, hard-working group of students that rise to a challenge and never give up. WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER! A class is kind of like a team. I encourage students to support one another by helping out and working together. To me, each student is an equally important member of the classroom team and is equally responsible for our class being a pleasant, fun, cooperative and safe place to be. If our classroom has a pleasant, safe atmosphere, we will all be more successful in learning! ACTIVE LEARNING! I believe that a classroom should be a busy and bustling place. I like to engage my students in activities, because I believe that children learn best by doing. In this way, students are making a personal connection to the information or skills we are learning. Studies show that this helps students retain the knowledge they gain. |
